As first confirmed by i0n1c, the exploits enabling the
Evasi0n7 to jailbreak are still present in iOS 7.0.5. This is definitely
good news for the jailbreak scene as a whole, and although Apple is
very likely to take steps in preventing the practice of jailbreaking
with the upcoming iOS 7.1, it does mean that for those who may have
accidentally updated, all is not lost.
After all, if you should find yourself updating to any new piece of
iOS software before it has been deemed safe to do so by a jailbreaking
expert, you’re playing fast and loose with your right to a jailbroken
device. And as we noted in an earlier article, in this day an age,
updating is a one-way street, with downgrading looking to be an
ever-distant memory.
The said well known developer and hacker has posted a screenshot of a jailbroken iPhone 5s on Twitter confirming that it does work.
Posting a note confirming how he got things up and running, he said:
To make evasi0n work with iOS 7.0.5 one way is to patch 11B511 into 11B601 in the binary. Ehmm btw… the patch are not hex bytes but simple ASCII iOS build numbers that need to be fixed.
If patching binaries isn’t exactly in your repertoire, there are
multiple unofficial version of Evasi0n7 jailbreak tools already floating
around the web which can jailbreak iOS 7.0.5. While they do work
without any issue, it’s best to avoid these unofficial releases and wait
for the official version of Evasi0n7. Now that it is confirmed to be
working on 7.0.5, it’s more than likely that the Evad3rs team will come
through with an updated version of Evasi0n right on cue which supports
the latest iOS 7.0.5 release.

iOS hacker MuscleNerd initially had made note on Twitter
that those wanting the option of a jailbreak should refrain from
downloading iOS 7.0.5, and while we now know that nothing has been
patched, waiting until an official update to the Evasi0n jailbreak tool
would certainly be an advisable course of action.
It is also important to note that iOS 7.1 beta 4 does patch the jailbreak partially,
so while this particular chapter of the ongoing cat-and-mouse game may
have swung somewhat in the favor of the hackers, the honeymoon period,
one suspects, looks set to reach its conclusion with the release of iOS
7.1 in Feb/March.
